MC-LEF’s PRESENTATION of The Commandant’s Leadership Award to Gilbert D. Scharf

On March 26, 2004, the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation gathered for the Ninth Annual Semper Fidelis Gala, which was held this year at the Plaza Hotel in New York to celebrate the Foundation’s continued dedication to it’s goals and mission of providing scholarship funding for the children of U.S. Marines and Federal law enforcement agents who are killed in the line of duty.

In front of four hundred and fifty members and friends of the MC-LEF, Foundation Director Gary E. Schweikert presented The Commandant’s Leadership Award to Gilbert D. Scharf, Chairman President and Chief Executive Officer, Maxcor Financial Group.

Mr. Scharf remarked, “It is truly an honor for me to accept this award on behalf of the dedicated employees of Maxcor, a company that suffered by the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center but a company that responded, recovered and prospered, but will never forget. Maxcor gratefully accepts its obligation as a company to give back to others. We applaud and respect the mission of this Foundation and identify with its goals and mission of helping those who suffer at the hands of terrorists. We are proud of and admire and honor our military forces, past and present.”
